The Tiktok account of the MP of the first election term Sofia Virta (Green) has been unexpectedly removed from the China-based social media platform.
Virta announced the deletion of his account in a tweet and also in a press release.
She said the platform had likely removed her account because of her stance on human rights, referring to a video she posted advocating for women’s abortion rights in the United States, which garnered up to eight million views.
"Of course, the question arises whether this is political. Could it be a coincidence that a widely circulated human rights video and account is being arbitrarily removed from a Chinese platform?" Virta wrote.
Tiktok has not given a reason for account deletion, but videos and entire accounts can be deleted from the platform based on notifications from other users.
