Barbara Bertelsen has been barred from participating in the appointment of a new Director of Employees and Competence due to concerns about a conflict of interest.
Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said in a message to TV2 that Bertelsen is “excluded” from providing input to the recruitment process because she herself is being investigated by the Danish Employees and Competence Agency in connection with the Minks case.
“We have a department head who’s deeply involved in a process that she’s the subject of – and it does not work,” said Transparency International’s Jesper Olsen to Berlingske.
The Prime Minister’s department and the Prime Minister’s staff are also kept out of the appointment process.
Instability for Bertelsen
Prior to her decision to exclude Bertelsen from participating in the Danish Employees’ and Competence Agency’s case, the Prime Minister received harsh criticism for letting Bertelsen carry out his traditional advisory role.
“Officials, like everyone else, are equal before the law, and therefore no one should have either better or worse treatment, because they are Mette Frederiksen’s close partners, and because the Prime Minister is not able to acknowledge his own mistakes and responsibility for breaking. the law and gross deception of the population and the Folketing. ” said Sophie Løhde From left.
The Mink Commission found that there is a basis for Bertelsen to be held accountable for her role in the illegally ordered slaughter of all Danish mink at the end of 2020, hence the problems she is in now.
In addition to Bertelsen, the Danish Employees and Competence Agency is looking at nine other civil servants after the Mink Commission’s report.
