Today, three or four Russian naval vessels will pass through Danish waters as they return from Saint Petersburg on their way to their respective naval bases.
All the ships took part in the country’s Navy Day parade, which is held every year in Russia at the end of July.
In order for the ships to return to their bases, they must, as usual, pass under the Great Belt Bridge, which connects the Danish islands of Zealand and Funen, every year.
The Danish Armed Forces will follow along
The Danish Defense Forces will follow the Russian ships closely when they come through – either by helicopter, plane or ship.
Close monitoring is considered standard procedure.
The ships expected to pass through the strait are the submarine ‘Severodvinks’, the class landing ship ‘Ivan Gren’, the rescue ship ‘Pamir’ and possibly the patrol vessel ‘Ladoga’.
