Event calendar Espoo is celebrating! The week also includes architecture-, history- and nature-themed walks, free entry to museums, events about local food and drinks, and exercise classes organized by clubs.
On Espoo Day, Saturday 27.8. we celebrate from morning to night at the long-standing party venue in Dipoli. In the early afternoon, an orchestra plays for the dancing couples, and in the afternoon the audience is entertained by one of the leading modern folk bands of the moment, Kalevauva.fi. The evening culminates in a roller skating disco.
Schools and kindergartens also celebrate Espoo’s 50th anniversary with a joint party.
The 50-year-old city is constantly growing and developing
The theme of 2022 is Espoo’s 50 years as a city, which has been celebrated with various campaigns, events and discussions.
“By working together, the city can develop even more. Espoo’s last 50 years as a city have been a success story. The city has grown at an impressive pace over the last fifty years, from 100,000 to 300,000 inhabitants. Espoo is still a safe city to live in, close to nature, and it has also become internationally a competitive university city. According to research, Espoo is the most sustainable city in Europe and it is our responsibility to keep it sustainable in the future as well,” says Jukka MäkeläMayor of Espoo.
