The lack of sour strömming means that many customers have difficulty getting hold of the desirable cans ahead of the sour strömming premiere today.
If the availability of streaming does not improve, Norrland’s cultural heritage may be threatened, according to sour streaming producer Oskars outside Sundsvall, which is preparing for closure.
“The whole surströmming culture is under threat, you have to say that. My wife sits and receives calls from people and they are in despair,” says owner Jan Söderström.
