The number of fourth Covid vaccines given in Finland has increased in recent weeks, they say Hanna NohynekChief physician of the Institute of Health and Welfare (THL).
In mid-July, THL published new guidelines recommending that municipalities offer the fourth injection to people aged 60 and over and to people aged 18 and over who are considered to be medically at risk.
The health authorities urged the program to be implemented by the beginning of August at the latest.
There seems to be variation between municipalities in how quickly the new recommendation has been implemented.
According to Nohynek, immediately after the recommendation was given, the fourth vaccine dose was started, but during the last two weeks it has clearly increased.
As a result of the new recommendation, a large number of people were entitled to another booster treatment.
