CANBERRA, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) — Australia’s women’s soccer team will host reigning Olympic silver medalists Sweden for a friendly in Melbourne on Nov. 12 ahead of the FIFA World Cup, Football Australia (FA) announced Saturday.
The match will mark the Matildas’ first match in Melbourne since a 3-0 loss to Argentina in March 2019 and Sweden’s first match in Australia since 2008.
It will be part of a series of friendlies the Matildas will play ahead of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
