Islamabad [Pakistan]August 20 (ANI): Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will visit European countries including Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway from August 22-26, 2022, according to media reports.
According to Pakistan’s local media ARY News citing a statement from the country’s foreign office, these countries are part of Zardari’s first visit to Europe since taking office.
During his visit, Bilawal Bhutto will meet his respective counterparts in Berlin, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo. The foreign minister will also hold meetings with other dignitaries and interact with the media.
According to the reports, the main focus of these visits would be to strengthen Pakistan’s ties with the European countries. The foreign minister is also scheduled to sign a “Green Framework Engagement” agreement with Denmark, focusing on climate change cooperation.
Although Pakistan is trying to strengthen ties with the European countries, it is worth noting that many European leaders have expressed their concern over several issues, including illegal migrants to Europe from Pakistan.
Illegal migrants from Pakistan are undermining European security and looking for opportunities to make quick money through crime.
With officials in the league, trafficked Pakistanis in Europe engage in terrorism and crime. 11 people trafficked by Dr Israr Husain, a BS-21 officer in the Ministry of External Affairs, are at the heart of the new scandal, Asian Lite International reported.
Dr Israr Husain was Additional Secretary (Europe) at the relevant time when he sent messages and e-mails supporting visa applications of those who either disappeared or sought asylum in various European cities, Pakistani newspaper The News International reported.
The newspaper, in a report on August 2, quoted unnamed government officials as saying this was an appropriate case for a thorough investigation, but there had been no word from the government. This is the latest development in a series of incidents spread over the past few years in which, according to official Pakistani estimates, around 40,000 Pakistani nationals enter Europe each year, traveling via Iran and Turkey.
Many European governments have noticed security-related problems with Pakistani illegal immigrants engaging in crime to make quick money. They also attend private conclaves organized by extremist bodies and are there influenced to take up violence, reports said.
The Pakistani government has yet to investigate a senior diplomat at the heart of a human-trafficking scandal, after facilitating visas from several European embassies in Islamabad for 11 ineligible people, Asian Lite International reported.
According to official Pakistani estimates, around 40,000 Pakistani nationals enter Europe each year, traveling via Iran and Turkey. The European authorities cannot treat the activities of these illegal people as petty crimes because, for example, a group in Turkey was found taking pictures of women for local women trafficking outbreaks.
There have been reports of Pakistani diplomats and officials abroad who are themselves involved in crime. In October 2018, Pakistani bureaucrat Zarar Haider Khan was caught on video stealing the wallet of a Kuwaiti delegate. Haider Khan was arrested after the incident that took place at the joint ministerial meeting between Pakistan and Kuwait. On April 27 last year, two diplomats from Pakistan’s embassy in South Korea were caught shoplifting in a shop in Seoul and arrested.
The latest scandal came to light due to a complaint by a travel agency that submitted detailed correspondence. He had arranged travel documents and the stay in Europe for the 11 Pakistani nationals who paid PKR 1.5 million each on the promise of getting jobs. Failing to get them, they applied for asylum, Asian Lite International reported. (ANI)
