The number of people employed in Denmark is still increasing

For the 17th month in a row, the number of people working and receiving income in Denmark increased, according to figures for June 2022, which also confirmed that an additional 7,000 had jobs compared to a month earlier.

There have never been more people in Denmark in employment than is the case today. According to Statistics Denmark, the number of employed people has increased by 47,000 this year.

According to Jeppe Juul Borre, chief economist at Arbejdernes Landsbank, the number has increased by 199,000 since January last year.

A break is expectedd
However, Borre does not expect that the number will continue to rise at the same rate for the rest of the year. Although the economy is doing well at the moment, he reasons, a decline seems likely in the near future.

Job postings are already down and inflation is soaring as energy prices continue to rise.

Sydbank’s chief economist, Søren V Kristensen, predicts that employment figures will start to fall for the rest of the year.
