Two million people are in prison in the United States. Many of them lose contact with friends and family after the sentence, which has made the phenomenon of “Prison Penpal” popular.
For five years, Cecilia Ekman has written with “Henry”, who is serving a life sentence for triple murder in Texas. Her friend Madde also exchanges letters with an inmate in the same state.
But can you be friends with a life-sentenced murderer? And if so, do you want to show it on Facebook?
Also hear from Genni from Texas who has been involved with inmates for more than 15 years. When her own son was sentenced to life, she began writing letters to and visiting several of those he was incarcerated with.
The documentary has also received a sequel in Love on Death Row.
Henry is actually called something else.
