Johanna AhoTVO’s director of communications on Wednesday stated to YLE that the test operation of the reactor is currently expected to continue on November 13. However, he emphasized that the schedule is only an estimate, as the extent of the damage to the pumps in the turbine island of the reactor is still in progress.
According to the plant’s operator, the damage does not affect nuclear safety.
Olkiluoto 3 is currently not producing electricity due to damage. Trial operation of the long-awaited unit began earlier this year, and the unit reached its full output of 1,600 megawatts for the first time on September 30.
