China has a secret liaison center in Stockholm that will monitor Chinese in exile, TT reports.
In a report from Safeguard Defenders, which maps human rights violations in China, there are about 50 so-called “contact centers” in roughly 30 countries. The Stockholm office is to be located in a hotel in the western parts of the city.
Three offices are said to be in the Toronto metropolitan area in Canada, whose federal police are now launching an investigation, the Canadian Public Service reports. The Netherlands has also started an investigation into the unlicensed stations, writes the Reuters news agency.
