A total of thirteen parties are running in Tuesday’s election in Denmark. The incumbent Social Democratic Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen’s biggest challenger is the blue party Venstre with party leader Jakob Ellemann-Jensen. However, his opinion figures have fallen sharply recently.
Even Søren Pape Poulsen, party leader of the Conservative People’s Party, has stated that he is running for the post of Prime Minister, despite opinion polls showing that he only has around six percent of voter support.
The big question mark is Lars Løkke Rasmussen, who leads the newly formed Moderate party. According to the latest opinion polls, no block will reach a majority without the support of the Moderates, who have not yet chosen a side.
