After Ingrid Giertz Mårtenson trained at the leading fashion school in Paris, she began her career at the leading fashion house Givenchy. Since then, the prestigious assignments have replaced each other and she has, among other things, acted as CEO of the Swedish Fashion Council and the Shoe Industry Council.
Now Ingrid Giertz Mårtensson is current with the book “Manligt fashion – an unknown history”. About the view of the man, male fashion for 500 years and why she thinks Harry Styles is an excellent role model for his generation.
The low status of fashion
Fashion is one of our greatest cultural expressions, fully comparable to poetry and music, says Ingrid Giertz Mårtensson. But it is not as recognized as other cultural expressions, which she has wanted to be part of and change. Among other things, by ensuring that fashion science becomes an academic subject at Stockholm University.
Hear Ingrid Giertz Mårtenson in the Sunday interview. About the harmful environmental impact of the clothing industry, how the 68 movement killed interest in Swedish fashion and a life in Haute couture – the highest art of sewing.
