We support Ukraine and force Russia to pay for its cruelty, Ursula von der Leyen said in a press release.
Ursula von der Leyen said the European Commission has proposed imposing sanctions on 200 individuals and entities, including the Russian armed forces, defense industry companies, members of the Russian Duma, the Federal Council, ministers and governors.
He noted that the list includes “key individuals” involved in Russia’s “cruel and deliberate missile strikes against civilians, the abduction of Ukrainian children to Russia and the theft of Ukrainian agricultural products.”
The president of the EU Commission announced that he supports the imposition of sanctions on three new Russian banks, including a complete transaction ban on the Russian Regional Development Bank.
He said the European Commission is proposing to introduce import restrictions on goods, including key chemicals, nerve agents, electronics and IT components, which he stressed could be used by the “Russian war machine”.
In addition, von der Leyen said that the European Commission plans to limit Russia’s access to all types of drones and unmanned aerial vehicles. In addition, the European Commission urges to prevent the direct export of drone engines to Russia and to all third countries that could supply drones to Russia.
Von der Leyen stated that the European Commission also favors targeting the Russian propaganda machine by removing four additional channels from broadcast and all other distribution platforms. He emphasized that the European Commission is proposing additional economic measures against Russia’s energy and mining sector. The European Commission has introduced eight sanctions packages against Russia since Moscow launched its attack on Kiev.
