Green light given for extradition of dividend fraud mastermind to Denmark

The British businessman , who is accused of having drained the Danish treasury of approximately DKK 9 billion in , must be brought to justice in . A court in Dubai, which had previously rejected several bids from the Danish authorities, has now approved his extradition.

“It is a great victory for Denmark that Sanjay Shah has now been sentenced to extradition. It has required a persistent effort from Danish diplomacy to achieve this and a constructive cooperation with the Emirati authorities. Hopefully today we have come a big step closer to holding Sanjay Shah accountable in the dividend case. We now have to wait and see if the case is appealed,” says Foreign Minister to DR.

Shah will appeal
However, the British businessman will not be sent to Denmark during the next few days. According to his spokesman, Shah will appeal the verdict to a higher court.

His lawyer, Kåre Pihlmann, said he would read the reasons for the case before commenting on the verdict.
