Herman Lindqvist became a foreign correspondent just like his father. Nowadays he lives in Warsaw and follows the war in Ukraine closely. He is concerned about developments and sees an imminent risk that we are heading for a major war in Europe.
For many, Herman Lindqvist is best known as a popular historian and expert on the Swedish royal family. Since the beginning of the 1990s, he has written best-selling books and made television programs about Sweden’s history, and has also received criticism for being anecdotal, sweeping and fixated on personalities.
Eight gin and tonics instead of therapy
He has reported from 26 wars and conflicts, experienced death and misery, and the best way to process his experiences has been to converse with colleagues who have been in the same places. “So you can sit together, drink eight gin and tonics and talk to each other, maybe cry,” says Herman.
In the Sunday interview, he also talks about how he was as a father, why sensual pleasure is so important and what the upcoming 80th birthday celebration should contain.
