Sweden sends Archer to Ukraine

On January 19, 2022, the moderate-led government announces at a press conference that it is preparing to send the Archer artillery system to – a system that has been high on Ukraine’s wish list for months.

– I would say that it has much less significance than we think, says Patrik Oksanen, policy expert, who is linked to the -financed Frivärld.

More than just Archer

What the experts are reacting to is the government’s announcement that Ukraine will also receive up to 50 combat vehicles 90 and anti- robot 57.

– If around fifty come to Ukraine, it actually makes a difference. It is quite a big difference, an important difference, says Tomas Ries, researcher at the Norwegian Defense Academy.
