In Lundström’s Book Radio you can hear the actor Marie Goranzon and the comedian and actor Olof Wretling in the book circle we did a couple of years ago about the novel: How do they read “Händelser vid vatten”? There were three programs then in 2020, but now we get to hear a new, shorter version.
Kerstin Ekmans When it came out, “Händelser vid vatten” quickly became one of the best-selling books in Sweden. It won both the Nordic Council’s Literature Prize and the August Prize and has been translated into several languages. The novel takes place in the small Jämtland community of Svartvattnet, and moves in two different timelines, partly in 1991, which is the book’s present, and partly in the early 1970s. At the center of the plot is an unsolved murder of some camping tourists by a stream deep in the forest.
You can listen straight: we won’t reveal how the book ends. If you want to hear the entire book circle, all three parts are available on SR Play.
