Nowadays, it is a crime when children witness violence in close relationships. The children get their own voice in the legal process, but even if the perpetrator is convicted of child welfare crimes, the child’s security has been damaged for life.
Mother Anna is forced to tell the children that she does not love them. She is threatened and beaten and the youngest child clings to her leg.
The children’s voice is important
The eldest daughter tells about the violence in a child interrogation, it becomes important evidence as well as the escape map she drew with stick figures and arrows.
The mother and children live in hiding with new identities despite the fact that the father was convicted in the district court. Their lives will never be the same, but they have gotten away from the violence.
Anna’s voice has been replaced and the name faked.
The children in the middle of the violence is a documentary series in three parts Pernilla Wadebäck in collaboration with Tredje Statsmakten Media.
