This update has speeded up security checks,” said Ari KumaraDirector of Finavia’s safety operations.
By the summer of 2023, traveling through Helsinki-Vantaa airport will be even more effortless when Finavia will install even more ultra-modern security devices. These devices allow air passengers to carry liquid containers of up to 100 milliliters in their carry-on luggage.
“This is a significant step forward since liquid restrictions were introduced globally in 2006 under EU regulations. We are a pioneer in the development of security checks, as similar technology is used only in a few major airports in Europe and some airports in the United States.” Kumara added.
Until summer, both old and new technology security devices are in use at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. Therefore, air passengers are recommended to follow the valid instructions for packing hand luggage. Finavia’s website has these packing instructions.
The new rules only apply to air passengers departing from Helsinki. Liquid restrictions still apply to air passengers departing from Finavia’s regional airports, as well as passengers arriving at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport from outside the EU and transferring to another flight.
“As Europe’s leading airport operator, we want to be at the forefront of service development. We strive to serve air passengers as well as possible and offer high-quality services at our airports. We believe that this new technology will enable us to offer our passengers a more relaxed and seamless travel experience,” Kumara stated.
Finavia’s investment in new security devices undoubtedly makes air travel through Helsinki-Vantaa airport more comfortable and efficient.
