The man who was shot was not actually the target. He was murdered while trying to intervene to stop the shooter, but was completely unrelated to crime or to the real target, a Bandido member who worked as a PT at the gym.

The shooting at the Delta gym is one of several crimes in public places in recent years. Criminologist Mikael Rying describes how crime has changed recently. One factor: the murders are more often related to drugs and less often to alcohol than before.
