Thomas G:son is the songwriter who had the most entries in Melodifestivalen, 69 songs. He has won the competition three times, among others with Carola and the song “Evighet” in 2006. For Carolina Norén, Thomas reveals that from the beginning both Sanna Nielsen and Sonja Aldén sang on the demo version, Carola only came into the picture later.
– It was Christer Björkman who suggested that we ask Carola.
2006 will be a successful year for Thomas, who wins Melodifestivalen for the second time. But it is also a year when he and his family suffer a great tragedy, his brother is accidentally shot dead by the police.
– You change when something like this happens, you realize that life can end at any time.
Thomas still lives in his hometown of Varola outside Skövde and has no plans to move from there to the music industry in Stockholm.
– I have my children here and am still often in Stockholm, that will be enough.
This year he was elected to the Melodifestivalen’s “Hall Of Fame” and in connection with that SvT would joke and on TV it looked like Thomas G:son was dragged out by guards from the Greenroom during a live after talk.
– I didn’t mind being in on the joke, but it wasn’t my idea. But I understand that it looked strange on TV and that many people reacted.
This year Thomas is competing in Melodifestivalen with songs performed by Mariette, Nordman and Theoz. He is also one of the songwriters behind Loreen’s comeback song “Tattoo”.
