Four seasons hit Copenhagen this afternoon with sun, sleet, snow and rain on the programme! Exactly how much precipitation will fall is in the hands of the gods, and it is not expected to be very windy.
However, it seems that the capital can expect a rare phenomenon: some thunderstorms. This is caused by the sudden arrival of cooler air, which pushes warm air skyward, and usually involves much lower clouds than normal, which somewhat dampens the thunder and lightning effect.
It is significant that the temperatures will suddenly drop around 17:30 today and that the mini thunder snow event will take place in Copenhagen between 18:00 and 19:00.
Cold last night
Thermometers in Horsens in East Jutland fell last night to minus 6.5 – a signal that winter is far from over in Denmark.
Further away from the capital, snow showers are expected in both northern Zealand and western Jutland. In addition to snow, sleet and rain, some ‘snow hail’ has also been forecast.
Wind strengths will be low throughout the country, with the exception of the Wadden Sea coastline, where gales are expected.
