If Sweden can do it…
The news will be a relief for Danish consumers, as last month they had the highest food prices in history.
This is in stark contrast to latest UN figureswhich conveyed that global food prices had fallen for 12 consecutive months and were 21.9 percent lower than their peak in March 2022.
Jens Juul Nielsen, head of communications for Coop, said that the supermarkets cannot reduce their prices until their distributors do the same – despite inflation falling for the fifth consecutive month in Denmark.
But apparently they can cross the border in Sweden, where supermarket prices have plummeted in the wake of recent price wars.
