The traffic restrictions are planned and implemented by the city’s security experts, the police and the rescue service.
- The area around Kauppatori and Pohjoisesplanadi and Eteläesplanadi streets will be closed to all motor vehicle traffic on May Day Eve, April 30, from 15:00 to 20:00.
- The traffic restrictions apply to Pohjoisesplanadi, Eteläesplanadi, Eteläranta between Eteläesplanadi and Pohjoisten Makasiinikatu, and Unioninkatu between Aleksanterinkatu and Eteläesplanadi.
- Only emergency vehicles are allowed to drive in the restricted area.
- The wider area around Pohjoisesplanadi and Eteläesplanadi will be turned into a low-frequency residential road on May 1st until 6 pm.

Access to ports by car during restrictions
The Katajanokka terminal can be reached via Pohjoisranta and Kanavakatu.
The Olympia terminal can be reached from, for example, Tehtaankatu and Laivasilkankatu. Heavy traffic must arrive in the Olympia Terminal area before the traffic restrictions start.
Aalto University’s student union is throwing a graduation ceremony for Havis Amanda
This year, Havis Amanda gets her cap from AYY, the student union of Aalto University, which is also responsible for organizing the event. The ceremony can be watched on the screens in Esplanadi park. The traditional placing of the cap on the statue takes place around 18:00 on May Day Eve (April 30). The restoration of Havis Amanda will begin after the May Day holiday.
