The year is 1978. A picture taken from a helicopter shows neat rows of corpses in colorful clothes. Some of them are holding hands. All were members of the Peoples Temple, a Christian political organization from the United States, which only a few years earlier had moved from California to the jungles of South America. Their leader was Reverend Jim Jones.
Now Pastor Jones’ son and other survivors tell a story that began as a fight for equal rights, but ended in full-scale tragedy.
For sensitive listeners, we especially warn about the sequence between about 54:45 to 60:00 into the episode.
