VAMK, which offers a total of 210 study places in two bachelor’s and three master’s programs, has gathered wide attention, and a total of 5,594 applications were submitted during the joint application period.
Nationally, these figures reflect a larger development: the initial number of applicants for bachelor’s and master’s programs is 56,089 from all Finnish universities.
Energy technology shines brightly
The undisputed star of this application period at VAMK has been the Bachelor’s degree program in Energy Engineering. A staggering 85% of all applications were directed to this program, with a significant number of applications originating from Asian countries.

New entry requirements
In particular, this round of the national joint application brought significant changes to the admission requirements. These changes include the mandatory submission of a language certificate and biometric passport, prerequisites for the entrance exam. These requirements apply to all Finnish universities of applied sciences.
Start of studies
The selected students will start their academic journey in January 2024. The entrance exams for bachelor’s studies are scheduled for November 1. More detailed information about auditions, locations and more information is available at Opintoinfo.fi.
The results of the autumn 2023 joint application will be announced no later than 24 November. Those who have received an internship must confirm their acceptance by 1 December. by 3 p.m. Reception from the waiting list is open on 12.12. until 3 p.m.
The lucky students chosen to fulfill their academic wishes will start their studies in January 2024 either at the Palosaari campus or via online platforms.
