A landfill south of Grindsted has turned out to be more polluted than previously thought.
Until the 1970s, the landfill was used for landfilling of waste from the city’s companies, including Grindstedværket, as well as waste from households.
According to the Region of Southern Denmark, it could end up on the list of so-called generational pollution in Denmark.
The current ten generation pollutants are:
* Grindsted Power Station, Grindsted: Pollution with toxic wastewater.
* Kærgård Klitplantage north of Esbjerg: Pollution with toxic wastewater from, among others, Grindstedværket.
* Himmark Strand, Als: Disposal of chemicals from Danfoss.
* Old factory site at Cheminova, Harboøre Tange: Pollution from the production of pesticides.
* Cheminova’s current factory site, Harboøre Tange: Pollution from the production of pesticides.
* Høfde 42 at Cheminova, Harboøre Tange: Pollution from the production of pesticides.
* Skuldelev, Frederikssund: Pollution near the town of Skuldelev with chlorinated solvents from metal companies.
* Naverland near Albertslund: Contamination with chlorinated solvents.
* The former Collstrup site by Esrum Lake: Arsenic pollution from the company Collstrup.
* Lundtoftevej 150 and 160, Lyngby: Contamination with chlorinated solvents from a former refrigerator factory.
