A recent projection from the Danish Energy Agency shows that things are going better than expected, but that does not make Climate Minister Dan Jørgensen (S) change the government’s ambitions.
– It is clear that the new projections that we have received show that we are in a better place than we had dared to hope for, and we will take that into the negotiations.
– The goal we set as the government’s position was also an ambitious goal, which meant that we had to invent new things, and it had to go better than it otherwise was in the cards, he says.
The three support parties have been summoned to negotiations on Friday, which could end in an agreement on the same day.
But the parties are far apart.
The government stands by an interim target of 46-50 percent. The support parties demand a sub-target of 50-54 percent and have 50 percent as the absolute bottom.
The independent body, the Climate Council, which is to advise politicians, has proposed that the sub-target should be between 50 and 54 percent compared to 1990 emissions.
